Eden DriveStudents and teachers of the Eden Seventh Day Adventist High School in Santa Elena Town have welcomed the asphalt surfacing last Friday of the portion of Eden Drive, which runs parallel to the school. The modernization of Eden Drive comes thanks to funding from the first phase of the Belize Municipal Development Project (BMDP), a comprehensive project which seeks to improve infrastructure in Municipalities across Belize.

Previous to the surfacing, Eden Drive was a nuisance to students, pedestrians and drivers. This portion of road that connects the Hill View Community to the George Price Highway, developed potholes during the rainy season and as a result slowed traffic considerably. Also, during the dry season, Eden Drive produced a large amount of dust as a result of vehicular traffic; covering the entire Eden High School Campus with dust in the process.

With the paving of the Eden Drive and construction of a speed bump, a measure of safety has been introduced. Principal of the Eden High School Erodito Pineda has been informed that a proper walkway may be built during the second phase of the BMDP.

“We are very thankful for the work that is being done in the area because it will help us to have a safer environment…less dust is affecting our students,” said Erodito Pineda, Principal of Eden High School in Santa Elena Town, Cayo.
