BWSL Firms Basketball Competition Champions Print E-mail

The Belize District Basketball Association Firms Competition came to an end on Saturday, December 8th, 2012, when the budding champions BWSL defeated the competition’s favourite Port of Belize in 2 games.

In the 2nd and final game played, BWSL captured the championship when it defeated Port of Belize by the score of 59-51. The top scorers for BWSL were Karim Thompson who scored 21 points and 8 rebounds; Travis Lennon who also scored 21 points, and 11 rebounds; and Ashley Hemsley who contributed 9 points towards the win. For Port of Belize, the top scorers were Lennox Bowman with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists; and Leroy Forbes with 9 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal.

On Friday, December 7th, in the first game of the championship series, BWSL edged the Port of Belize by the score of 53-50. The top scorers for BWSL were Travis Lennon with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal; Karim Thompson with 11 points, 11 rebounds;1 assist and 3 steals; and Lindburg Graham with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Meanwhile, the top scorers for Port of Belize were Ian Augustine with 15 points, 12 rebounds,1 assist and 2 steals; and Lennox Bowman with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.

In the U-23 championship series, in game one, Tuff “E” Nuff defeated Belize Bank “Bulldogs” by the score of 59-51. The top scorers for Tuff “E” Nuff were Jamal Kelly with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals; and Ashton Edwards with 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. The top scorers for the Belize Bank “Bulldogs” were Brian White with 14 points, 8 rebounds; and Terique Gabb with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.

In game two, Belize Bank “Bulldogs” edged Tuff “E” Nuff by the score of 52-51 to force a game three. The top scorers for the Belize Bank “Bulldogs” were Brian White with 17 points, 8 rebounds; and Terrique Gabb with 13 points. For Tuff “E” Nuff, the top scorers were Farron Louriano with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 assists;-- and Jamal Kelly with 11 points.
