The semi-final round of the 2012 Premier League of Belize Football Competition commenced on Saturday, December 8th, out at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence Village and then continued on Sunday, December 9th at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town.

On Saturday, December 8th, at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium, the visiting Belmopan Bandits blanked the national defending champions Placencia Assassins by the score of 1-0. The Belmopan Bandits were able to get on the scoreboard when Jerome James scored the only goal of the game in the 22nd minute of play.

Meanwhile, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town in a game between the security forces, it was the Police United squad that won game one in the series when it clipped the Belize Defence Force by the score of 2-1. The home team, the Belize Defence Force was able to get onto the scoreboard first when Vallan Symms scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 11th minute of play.

Meanwhile, the Police United squad was able to get onto the scoreboard when Evan Mariano scored his team’s 1st goal of the game in the 33rd minute of play to tie the score at 1-1 by the first half of the game. ended 1-1.

It was in the closing minutes of the game that the Police United’s, Trevor Lennan scored the go-ahead goal that gave his team the 2-1 victory.

The semi-final round will continue this coming weekend. On Saturday, December 15th at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan at 7:30 pm, it will be Placencia Assassins against the Belmopan Bandits, while on Sunday, December 16th, also at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium at 3:00 pm, it will be Police United against the Belize Defence Force.
