For some time now LLLAH has been able to offer various imaging services such as mammography, x-ray, ultrasound and Cat Scan. The dedication names the centre as the Sylvan N. Roberts, Jr. Memorial Imaging Centre.

La Loma Luz Adventist Hospital was founded by U.S. National Dr. Raymond Mundall, who for many years served Belize. Dr. Mundall’s fame rapidly grew principally for charging very small amounts, for his quality services and maintaining close contact with his patients. Some twenty five members of the Mundall Family are currently in the Cayo District in memory of Dr. Raymond Mundal, who passed away in August 1997.

Celebrations started at 7:00 pm on Friday night with a special speaker, Adan Sosa, who also serves as assistant to the Administrator and the Chaplin at the hospital. On Saturday morning, the Sabbath School was opened by the Mundall Family. The guest speaker was Pastor Guy Nemhard.

This evening, the Mundall Family and other members of the public reminisced on the pioneering journey of the LLLAH, including that the campus was principally jungle at the time and had to be cleared for the start of the hospital. Workers and contributors of the past to what has made the LLLAH what it is today, were also present at the LLLAH Campus grounds.

LLLAH currently operates under three management levels. The first level of management being under a local board, made up predominantly of Belizeans. Under the second management level, LLLAH operates under the Adventist Health Services Inter America, along with thirteen other hospitals in the region. The mother-ship of LLAH is the Adventist Health International, which includes some twenty six hospitals now operating around the World.

We asked the current administrator of the LLLAH, Grant McPherson how he would like to remember this 40th year anniversary.

“We want [the public] to recognize how the Lord has lead in the past and the present…we are going to be asking for the Lord to continue to lead us in the future.”
