When the team returned home on Monday, January 28th, they were greeted at the Phillip Goldson International Airport by scores of family and friends. The team boarded a bus and headed to the Brodies’ Parking Lot on the Phillip Goldson Highway where an even larger number of supporters gathered to welcome them home. Key players of the national selection were given opportunities to address the crowd during a brief rally. McCauley said, “It means a lot to see everyone out here to support us.” He asked the entire nation to “keep up the support because we feel the energy you bring to us when we are out there.” He closed saying, “it is big for us to be in the Gold Cup and Guatemala is not there.”

Woodrow West, star goalkeeper; Dalton Eiley, Jr., team captain; Trevor Lennan, goal scorer, and Elroy Smith, sweeper, also addressed the assembly of family, friends and fans. West explained that a huge part of the team’s development was based on prayer and he thanked God for the team’s performance. He thanked all the Belizeans who kept in touch with them on Facebook and sent words of encouragement. Eiley commended the federation for “taking good care of us”. He laughed and said, “When we arrived at the hotel they only had us booked for three games. We made them book us for two more.” Lennan said that while the attention may be focused on a few individuals on the team, “it was about the whole team or it would not have been possible”. Smith closed the rally saying, “We went out there as the underdogs but the players knew we were out there to prove ourselves.” The team then boarded a Calypso Train and proceeded on a motorcade throughout the streets of Belize City.
