OpeningThe Ministry of Foreign Trade is in the first round of negotiations with its counterparts from El Salvador as part of the process to ink a Partial Scope Agreement (PSA). The negotiations will address issues such as market access for agricultural goods and products, investments, cooperation, legal and Institutional arrangements.

According to the Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Mike Singh, the agreement is expected to create export opportunities for industry and contribute to overall economic growth through promoting trade, foreign direct investment, employment and revenue generation. In addition, the PSA will serve to deepen trade relations with El Salvador allowing for greater market penetration into Central America. Singh encourages the private sector to liaise with the Ministry of Foreign Trade to access importing and exporting business opportunities that will arise as a result of the bilateral agreement.

The first of three rounds of negotiations concludes on Thursday, February 21st, with the signing of an Aide Memoir between the two countries.
