Children and grown-ups of all ages made their way to the open lot behind the Central Bank of Belize where, they either competed in the 3rd Kite Festival or simply took time out to spend time flying a kite. Also present was master kite maker Glenford Hyde, who took time out to make over 430 kite frames for children and adults alike to assemble their kits. These were in the shape of moonies and star kites. With the help of the sponsors the kite makers were provided with kite paper, glue and string. After a few minutes of simple assembly, those participating were able to fly a kite they made on their own.

But the highlight of the day was the competition which featured  junior and senior kitemakers in various categories including Best Moonie, Best Singer, Best Starry, Best Box Kite, Most Creative, Best Ben the Builder Kite, Best Coca Cola Kite and Largest Kite.  At the end of the junior competition, Best Moonie was submitted by Shakir Gabourel,  Best Singer by Ryan Davis, Best Starry was done by Kenyon Plunket, Most Creative was submitted by Deneil Martinez and Best Ben the Builder kite went to Fred Cabrera. In the Senior Category, Best Moonie was presented by Kareem Tucker, while best singer went to Keith Franklyn. Best Starry was by Leopold Smart and Best Box went to Fernando Patterson. Best Coca Cola Kite was done by Nigel Barrow while Most creative was done by Abel Martinez and Largest Kite was by Zane Mckoy.
