Belmopan BanditsThe 2013 Closing Season of the Premier League of Belize continued over the last weekend with a number of games across the country.

On Saturday, March 16th, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the defending champions the Belmopan Bandits defeated the visiting Placencia Assassins by the score of 2 - 1. The Placencia Assassins were the first to get on the scoreboard when Ashley Torres scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 31st minute of play to give it a temporary lead well into the second half of the game.

It was not until the 78th minute of play that the Belmopan Bandits were able to get onto the scoreboard when Jerome James scored the equalizing goal for his team. David Madrid then scored what proved to be the winning goal in the 86th minute of play to give the Belmopan Bandits a 2-1 lead and the victory.

On Sunday, March 17th, at the MCC Grounds, the current leaders in this year’s competition, the Belize Defence Force blanked the Police United by the score of 2-0. The two goals for the Belize Defence Force were scored by Vallan Symms in the 17th minute of play via a penalty kick and again in the 90th minute of play.

At the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the San Ignacio United squad clipped FC Belize by the score of 1-0. Garet Bermudez scored the only goal of the game in the 15th minute of play.

And at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town, FC San Felipe Barcelona and Verdes FC played to a 1-1 draw. The goal for FC San Felipe Barcelona was scored by Deris Benavides in the 90th minute of play while the goal for Verdes FC was scored by Julian Maldonado also in the 90th  plus minutes of the game.
