Teenager accused of Attempted Murder Print E-mail

Akeem AugustineOn Thursday, March 21st, Akeem Augustine, 18, appeared in Magistrate's Court where he was charged with four counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder four counts of aggravated assault.

Augustine, a resident of #74 La Croix Boulevard, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Adolph Lucas. No plea was taken and bail could not be offered. He is remanded to prison until April 22nd.

According to a police report, on Tuesday, March 19th, they received a report from a 16-year-old minor who informed them that at about 6:00 p.m., he and another minor, 15, and two other young men were hanging out at the corner of Police Street and La Croix Boulevard, when he and the 15-year-old decided to go and buy at a nearby shop. According to the 16-year-old, whilst on Mahogany Street on their way to the shop, they were approached by Augustine and two other men, who started to pursue them. They hurriedly made their way back to the corner of Police Street and La Croix Boulevard where the other two men were standing, and, according to the minor, upon reaching at the corner of the two streets, one of the men who was pursuing them pulled out a gun and fired several shots in their direction.

All four persons managed to escape injuries. Police investigation into the matter led them to apprehend Augustine who was positively identified by the minor.
