Zamir Guerra establishes New Record in Junior Cross Country Print E-mail

Top three finishersThe 14th Annual Junior Cross Country Cycling Classic is now history and a new record was established in this process. On Sunday, March 24th, 2013, the Belize Cycling Association sponsored its annual Junior Cross Country Cycling Classic which saw the participation of 20 riders. The historic event started at the Succtoz Ferry and concluded at Leslie’s Imports at Mile 2 on the George Prince Highway.

At the end of 3:34:38 (new record) it was Zamir Guerra of Cayo High Road Cycling that was the first rider to cross the finish line and shattered the previous record, of 3:37:48 that was established by Byron Pope. The second rider to cross the finish line was Michael Wagner Jr. of BELCOL Uprising Cycling Tea.  The third rider to cross was Tarique Flowers, who is unattached, the fourth was Joslyn Chavarria Jr. of BELCOL in a time of 3:46:06, and the fifth rider to cross the finish line was Giovanni Lovell of Telemedia Cycling to round off the top five finishers.

The other riders to finish the race included Oscar Quiros Jr. of Xibaiban Cycling Team, followed by Philip Mencias who is unattached in a time of 3:44:30, followed by Aiden Emir Juan of Cayo High Road Cycling, followed by Zahir Figueroa of BELCOL Uprising Cycling Team and Damien Westby, who is unattached finished tenth to round off the top finishers in the 14th Annual Junior Cross Country Cycling Classic.
