Belize Defence Force still in Number One Position Print E-mail

The Premier league of Belize Football Competition continued over the last week with games across the country.

On Thursday, March 21st, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the defending champions the Belmopan Bandits and San Ignacio United played to a 1-1 draw. The home team San Ignacio United got on the scoreboard first when Rosny Martinez scored the 1st goal of the game in the 44th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. However, the Belmopan Bandits were able to tie the score at 1-1 when Darren Myers scored the equalizing goal in the 81st minute of play.

At the Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo, Verdes blanked the league’s leading Belize Defence Force by the score of 2-0. The goals for Verdes were scored by Julio Ayala in the 28th and 33rd minutes of the game respectively.

On Sunday, March 24th, at the MCC Grounds in Belize City, the home team FC Belize blanked the Placencia Assassins by the score of 1-0. Christobal Gilharry scored the only goal of the game in the 75th minute of play via the penalty kick.

The competition will continue this week with games on Wednesday, March 27th, at 7:30 pm between Verdes FC and the Belmopan Bandits at the Marshalleck Stadium in Benque Viejo, and at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town also at 7:30 pm between the Belize Defence Force and the San Ignacio United FC.

On Thursday, March 28th, at 7:30 pm at the MCC Grounds, Police United will entertain the Placencia Assassins and at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk also at 7:30 pm it will be FC San Felipe Barcelona against FC Belize.

On Easter Sunday, March 31st, there will be four games across the country. At the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town at 3:30 pm, it will be FC San Felipe Barcelona against the Belmopan Bandits, at the Placencia Field it will be Placencia Assassins against Belize Defence Force at 3:30 pm, while at the Norman Broaster Stadium also at 3:30 pm it will be Verdes Fc against San Ignacio United FC. And in the last game of the day scheduled for 4:00 pm at the MCC Grounds, it will be Police United against FC Belize.
