Wesley Upper School boys’ Basketball TeamThe 2012-2013 Belize City Primary Schools Basketball Competition opened on Monday April 15, 2013, at Bird’s Isle in Belize City.

There are seven (7) girls’ schools and 16 boys’ schools participating in this year’s primary schools basketball competition.

The schools in the girls’ competition are Muslim Community, Belize Elementary, Holy Redeemer, St. John Vianney, St. Martin De Porres, Queen Square Anglican and Buttonwood Bay Nazarene. Meanwhile, the schools in the boys’ competition are St. John Vianney, Buttonwood Bay Nazarene, Queen Square Anglican, Belize Elementary, Wesley Upper School, New Horizon Academy, St. Mary’s Primary, St. Luke Methodist, Trinity Methodist, Ephesus SDA, Hummingbird Elementary, Queen Street Baptist, St. Ignatius Primary, Holy Redeemer School, Unity Presbyterian and St. Martin De Porres.

On Monday April 15, in the first of two girls games played, Belize Elementary School defeated Muslim Community School, by the score of 9-0. The top scorers for Belize Elementary School were Chelsea Williams and Allyana Musa with 4 points each.

In the second girls’ game, St. Martin De Porres School defeated Buttonwood Bay Nazarene School by the score of 13-6. The top scorer for St. Martin De Porres School was Shantae Palacio with 11 points and the top scorer for Buttonwood Bay Nazarene was Shinelle Smith with 4 points each.

In the first of two boys’ games, Belize Elementary School won over Queen Square Anglican via the default route. In game two, it was St. John Vianney School winning over Buttonwood Bay Nazarene by the score of 16-4. The top scorer for St. John Vianney was James Pugh with 6 points while the top scorers for Buttonwood Bay Nazarene were David Ortiz and Cory Anderson with 2 points each.

In the second and final boys’ game played, it was Unity Presbyterian winning over St. Ignatius School via the default route.

On Tuesday April 16, in the only girls game played Holy Redeemer School defeated St. John Vianney School by the score of 14-0. The top scorers for Holy Redeemer School were Kelsie Moss and Zaria Jenkins with 4 points each.

In the first of three boys games played in the afternoon, Wesley Upper School defeated St. Mary’s School by the score of 14-10. The top scorer for Wesley Upper School was Jahmar Harris with 10 points, while the top scorer for St. Mary’s School was Jaylene Flowers with 4 points.

In the second game, St. Luke Methodist School defeated New Horizon Academy School by the score of 24-20. The top scorer for St. Luke Methodist School was Adrian Arnold with 11 points and the top scorer for New Horizon Academy School was Komron Ivanor with 13 points.

And in the final game of the day, Ephesus SDA School defeated Hummingbird School by the score of 41-12. The top scorer for Ephesus SDA was Antawn Palacio with 16 points and the top scorer for Hummingbird Elementary was Brandon Usher with 5 points.
