Hon. Edmund Castro, Hon. Godwin Hulse and BWSL’s Chairman, Alberto August broke groundOn Wednesday,  April 24th Hon. Edmund Castro, Area Representative for Belize Rural North along with Hon. Godwin Hulse, Minister of Rural Development and Chairman of the Belize Water Services Limited broke ground on a 7.8 million dollar water project in the Belize River Valley area.

The project will some 550 families in nine villages along the river valley benefitting from safe potable water supplied by BWSL. Work commenced immediately on the project and within 90 days the first village to be supplied with water will be Scotland Halfmoon. As the project progresses along the river valley, the other villages will be hooked up to the system. The project will be completed in December of this year.
Speaking to Hon. Castro, he explained that the project has been one he has long been lobbying for and expressed his gratitude that finally his constituents will be able to benefit from water supply. He said that for years the PUP had been promising the people that water would come but those promises never materialized until now.

Chairman of BWSL, Alberto August who gave the vote of thanks, priased the Prime Minister, Hon. Dean Barrow and the Government of Belize for implementing a long held dream of villagers. He also thanked the Area Representative who always remained steadfast behind the project to have it executed. He also thanked villagers for their support as well as the management and Staff of BWSL for their work. In concluding, he urged the contractor to execute the project to the best of his ability so that the people of the nine communities of the River Valley can begin to enjoy safe potable drinking water.
