BDF Soldier stabbed in Barbados Print E-mail

Andre GabbBelize Defence Force warrant officer, Andre Gabb, 45, was stabbed in Barbadoes on Friday, May 17th. Reports from the island suggest that Gabb was socializing with two other persons in an area, Carlton, Black Rock, about two miles north of Bridgetown when his companions got invovled in an altercation. He intervened and was stabbed in the chest. He is now hospitalized at the general hospital, the Queen Elizabeth. Barbados police have since arrested one individual in connection with the stabbing.

Gabb’s wife travelled on Barbados on Tuesday,  May 21st to be at the bedside of her husband, who had been on a life support machine from Friday . He has since been taken off the ventilator and is breathing on his own and is conscious though he still remains in a critical condition.

Gabb is attached to the Regional Security System (RSS), which is an international agreement for defence and security of Eastern Caribbean countries. The organization is operational during times of diaster and other security needs. Countries receive assistance from the organization upon request. Gabb is currently the only BDF soldier attached to the RSS and his role, among others, included training and welfare for personnel of the RSS.
