Albert Gabriel Roaches, President of the Cayo Chapter of Justices of the PeaceThe Cayo Chapter of the Justices of the Peace met at the San Ignacio Police Station this past Sunday evening. Much was achieved at this Justices of the Peace meeting, including an initiative to reach out to other members.

At this meeting, members reviewed the new requirements for obtaining a passport as well a proposed seal that had been submitted by the National Justices of the Peace Association. Members of the Cayo Chapter of the Justices of the Peace are proposing to join forces with the Benque Viejo del Carmen Justices of the Peace. (There are growing concerns that the Benque Viejo Chapter has become inactive.) President of the Cayo Chapter, Albert Gabriel Roches believes that such a union will allow for members to become more active.

As part of the reaching out to other Justices of the Peace, the Cayo Chapter will continue to educate its members. So too will the National Association of Justices of the Peace, which will be holding a workshop for other members to discuss the Justices of the Peace Act. That meeting has been schedule for August 4, 2013 at the Center for Employment Training building in San Ignacio and will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Teachers are especially invited to attend this educational session as they are the most sought out, to fill in the newly introduced passport application forms.
