Shawn EdwardsShawn Edwards will learn his fate on August 9th when Justice Troadio Gonzalez will rule on his case of attempted murder.

In October of 2010, a bar in Belize City was held up in an attempted robbery and the bar owner was shot and injured. Also shot was one of two robbers, Shawn Edwards,  who was later arrested by police.

Edwards’ trial, which was conducted without a jury, began last week in the Supreme Court before Justice Troadio Gonzalez. At the beginning of the trial, Edwards indicated that he wanted to plead guilty to the charge of attempted murder but after the facts of the case were read to him, he disagreed with them and opted to proceed with the full trial.

That case has now concluded and Justice Troadio Gonzalez has deferred his ruling on the case until August 9th when he will give his decision.
