New Orange Walk District Association of Village Councils for 2013. (photo courtesy RC1)On Saturday, August 3rd, the newly elected Village Councils of the Orange Walk District held their annual general meeting, at the Banquitas House of Culture. The highlight of the AGM was the election of the new board of the District Association of Village Councils (DAVCO), Orange Walk Branch. The Board consists of 12 members.

Elected to serve for the next three years are the following: President, Anita Mesh, who is the chairlady for San Jose Village; Vice-President, Cecilia Quetzal, the chairlady of San Felipe Village; Secretary, Isela Wade, the San Antonio Village chairlady. Assistant Secretary is Chan-Pine-Ridge Village Council Chairman Isidro Tzul while the treasurer is Alfaro Muy who is the chairman of Nuevo San Juan Village. Assistant Treasurer is Ismael Blanco, who is the chairman of August-Pine-Ridge Village. Members include chairmen Joel Armstrong from Tower Hill Village, Hipolito Briceno from Trial Farm Village, Mauricio Aguilar from Indian Church Village, Javier Marin from San Luis Village, Thomas Reyes from San Carlos Village and Maritza Patt San Estevan village council member.
The Election process was conducted by the Ministry of Rural Development Representative

Ernest Banner. Also present were the Northern Regional Coordinator, Ruben Campos and Orange Walk Rural Community Officer, Elmer Osorio.
