Atlantic Bank and Belize Bank lead in Firms Basketball Competition Print E-mail

The Belize District Basketball Association 2013 Firms Competition continued on Saturday, August 11th, at Bird’s Isle with three more games on the schedule.

In the first game played, Customs/Ministry of Education defeated the Belize City Council/Post Office by the score of 67-61. The top scorers for Customs/Ministry of Education were Kevin Lorenzo with 29 points, Winston Pratt with 22 points and Ephrain Philips with 10 points. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Belize City Council/Post Office squad were Kenroy Usher with 14 points, Densford Bevans with 10 points and Cordel Gonzalez Jr. with 9 points.

In game two, it was the Belize Bank/Broadway Trust that continued on its winning path when it doubled up on PUC/CBA/Fisheries by the score of 85-41. The top scorers for the Belize Bank/Broadway Trust were Marcel Orozco with 23 points, Troy Gabb with 20 points, and Terrique Gabb with 18 points. For PUC/CBA/Fisheries the top scorers were Andrew Robateau with 12 points, Claudio Leal with 8 points and Raymond Charley with 7 points.

And in the final game of the evening, Port of Belize/Airport defeated Central Health Region/Audit Department by the score of79-75. The top scorers for Port of Belize/Airport were Vince Estrada with 24 points, Lennox Bowman with 22 points and Ian Augustine with 15 points.

For the Central Health Region/Audit Department team their top scorers were Neil Nicholson with 23 points, Wilfred Richards with 14 points, and Steven Wade with 10 points.

The competition continued on Friday August 9 with three more games. In the first game played, BWSL defeated Heritage Bank by the score of 55-42. The top scorers for BWSL were Karim Thompson with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, Jamir Enriquez and Lindbergh Graham with 11 points.

The top scorers for the Heritage Bank were Felix Martinez and Kurt Burgess with 13 points each, and Devon Defour with 10 points.

In game two, Atlantic Bank won handily over Ready Call by the score of 71-58. The top scorers for Atlantic Bank were Evan Rene with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals, Ervin Orosco and Dave Apolonio with 13 points each. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Ready Call were Josiah Brown with 13 points, and 4 rebounds and Hubert Baptist with 10 points.

In the third and final game of the evening, Courts upended Sprite by the score of 66-49. The top scorers for Courts were Tyron Anthony with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal, Delroy Caliz with 15 points, and 6 rebounds, and Fidel Blair with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. For Sprite, the top scorers were Deon Symms with 18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal and Michael Staine with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist and Troy Williams with 12 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

The competition will continue this coming Friday August 16 with three more games. In the first game at 7:00 pm Readycall Centre will go up against Heritage Bank Ltd., in game two it will be Port of Belize Ltd against BTL and in the final game it will be Customs/Ministry of Education against Bowen & Bowen.

On Saturday August 17, three more games are on the schedule. In game one at 7:00 pm PUC/CBA/Fisheries will see action against BWSL, followed by Courts going up against Port of Belize/Airport and in the final game of the evening being Central Health Region/Audit Department  battle against Belize City Council/Post office.
