Atlantic and Belize Banks lead in Firms Basketball Competition Print E-mail

The Belize District Basketball Firms Competition for 2013 continued on Saturday, August 18th, with three games on the schedule.

In the first game played, BWSL defeated PUC by the score of 58-52. The top scorers for BWSL were Lindbergh Graham with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 1, assist and 2 steals, and Jamir Enriquez with 12 points and 2 rebounds. For PUC, the top scorers were Ian Haylock with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and an assist and Andrew Roberteau with 10 points, 9 rebounds and an assist.

In game two, Port of Belize defeated Courts by the score of 76-67. The top scorers for Port of Belize were Lennox Bowman with 31 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists and Vince Estrada with 29 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Courts were Rennon Pandy with 20 points, 8 rebounds, an assist and a steal and Delroy Caliz with 17 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal

In the final game of the day, Belize City Council edged Central Health by the score of 84-82. The top scorers for the Belize City Council were Kenroy Usher with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals, and Densford Bevans with 23 points, and 4 rebounds. For the Central Health squad, the top scorers were Steven Wade with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and a steal and Lonnie Trapp with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

The competition then continued on Friday, August 16th, with two more games. In the first game played, Heritage Bank edged Ready Call by the score of 68-64. The top scorers for Heritage Bank were Felix Martinez with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals, and Kurt Burgess with 22 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists. For Ready Call, the top scorers were Hubert Baptist with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, and Aaron Baptist with 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 steals.  

In game two, Port of Belize upended Digicell by the score of 68-55. The top scorers for Port of Belize were Earl Johnson with 34 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, and Lennox Bowman and Angus Cherrington with 11 points each. For Digicell, the top scorers were Devon Lozano with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal and Jordon Santos with 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

The competition will continue this coming Friday, August 23rd with three more games on the schedule. In game one at 7:00 p.m. Central Health will go up against BTL; in game two Belize Bank goes up against Atlantic Bank Ltd and in the final game of the evening Belize City Council will face Port of Belize.

On Saturday, August 24th, at 7:00 pm in game one, Customs & Excise will see action against Courts, followed by BWSL against Ready Call Centre and in the final game it will  be Bowen & Bowen against Belize City Council.
