Bertie ChimilioFormer president of the Football Federation of Belize, Bertie Chimilio, appeared in court to answer to charges of failing to pay income tax. He appeared in Belize City before Magistrate Leslie Hamilton.

In court Income Tax Supervisor, Ann Castillo, testified that an assessment of Chimilio was done which determined that he was earning $5,000 a month. The assessment came despite the fact that there were no records to do a proper assessment. While Chimilio originally denied to making a monthly salary, he later admitted to getting a salary but claimed it was only $3,000 a month.

That figure was later assessed by the Income Tax Department to be more and that. They later came up with a monthly salary of $3,500 and they added on fuel and other miscellaneous allowances and it amounted to $5,000 a month.

By the end of this session, Magistrate Hamilton ruled that Chimilio must pay the Income Tax Department the sum of $500 monthly effective September 5, 2013.
