An American woman who was on the island of San Pedro, Ambergris Caye over the weekend vacationing with her husband was charged after she was found with cocaine. 29-year-old American national, Ashley Bossenmeyer of New Orleans, Louisiana  appeared in court on a single charge of possession of a controlled drug.

Bossenmeyer was unrepresented when she appeared before Magistrate Sherigne Rodriguez where she wasted no time and pleaded guilty to possession of 0.23 grams of cocaine. After pleading guilty she was fined $600 plus  $5.00 cost of court which she was ordered to pay immediately in default 2 months imprisonment.

In mitigation, Bossenmeyer told the magistrate, “I am very sorry. I really would like to get home to be with my son and father. My father is getting open heart surgery this Thursday and all I want to be is home with my family.”

Within half hour, Bossenmeyers husband who had accompanied her to court was able to pay the fine and both exited the court and into a taxi to try and catch her flight out of Belize.

On Saturday, September 28th Bossenmeyers was at Jaguars Night Club in San Pedro and had in her possession, 0.23 grams of cocaine. According to WPC #1554, Arring Young, at about 2:15 a.m., she conducted a search on Bossenmeyer in the female restroom at the nightclub and found a transparent plastic bag in the left area of her breast. The bag was retrieved and inside it she saw some white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
