Vallan SymmsThe Premier League of Belize Belikin Cup Opening Season competition continued over the last weekend with three games.

On Saturday, October 5, in the game played out at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the home team Belmopan Bandits won over the visiting San Ignacio United by the score of 4-1. The Belmopan Bandits got on the scoreboard first when Elroy Kuylen scored his 1st of 3 goals in the 11th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The lead was further increase when Kuylen scored his 2nd goal in the 29th minute of play for a 2-0 lead.

In the second half of the game, the Belmopan Bandits continued its dominance over the San Ignacio United Team when Deon McCaulay scored his team’s 3rd goal of the game in the 51st minute of play for a commanding 3-0 lead. However, it was not until the 57th minute of play that the San Ignacio United squad was able to break through the Bandits defence when Anthony Gonzales scored his team’s only goal of the game for a 3-1 deficit.

Elroy Kuylen scored the Belmopan Bandits final goal of the game in the 88th minute of play to give his team the 4-1 victory.

Meanwhile, at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga Town, the Belize Defence force picked up its second win in a row when it edged Verdes FC by the score of 2-1. The Belize Defence Force was able to get onto the scoreboard first when Ambrose Thomas scored his team’s 1st goal of the game in the 17th minute of play to give his team an early lead. The lead was further increase when Vallan Symms scored his team’s 2nd goal of the game in the 33rd minute of play via a penalty kick.

For the visiting Verdes FC, its only goal of the game was scored by Orlando Jimenez in the 53rd minute of play.

The competition then continued on Sunday, October 6 out at the Toledo Union Field between the Paradise/Freedom Fighters who blanked the visiting FC Belize by the score of 3-0. The goals for the home team Paradise/Freedom Fighters were scored by Franz Vernon in the 3rd minute of play and the 62nd minute of play respectively and Lisbey Castillo in the 49th minute of play.
