Fun DayOn October 3rd a fire destroyed a home in the Lake Independence constituency, leaving the Taylor family homeless. Having seen the need of the fire victim, Hon. Mark King quickly activated resources to assist the family and on Monday, October 14th, a family fun day was organized at the basketball court behind the Charles Bartlett Hyde (complex) Building to raise funds to assist the fire victims.

While it was primarily a fund-raiser for the Taylor family, it was also a fun day and hundreds of kids and adults came out to participate. There were lots of games and music, and children were given opportunities to win gifts from area representative, Hon. Mark King. At the end of it all, however, the objective of securing funds for the fire victims was realized as $1,000 was raised. The Taylor family also got some $5,000 more through the assistance of NEMO.

Hon. Mark King would like to thank Hon. Dean Barrow, NEMO and the Lake Independence Committee for the assistance he was able to give to the Taylor family.
