Customs faces Port of Belize in Firms’ Basketball show down Print E-mail

Vince EstradaThe Belize District Basketball Association Firms’ Competition will commence its championship round on Friday, October 18th, at Bird’s Isle in Belize City at 9:00 pm between the Port of Belize/Airport and Customs. The championship round will utilise the best of three format.


The semi-final round came to an end on Friday, October 11th, in the first semi-final game Port of Belize/Airport eliminated the Belize City Council by the score of 54-32. The top scorers for the Port of Belize/Airport were Vince Estrada with 21 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists, Earl Johnson with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal and Lennox Bowman with 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal.

For the Belize City Council the top scorers were Kenroy Usher with 9 points, and 3 rebounds, and Leon Williams and Densmore Edwards with 9 points each.

In the second semi-final game Customs eliminated Atlantic Bank by the score of 78-75. The top scorers for Customs were Winston Pratt with 38 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, and Kevin Lorenzo with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Meanwhile, the top scorers for Atlantic Bank were Ervin Orosco with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals, and Keith James with 16 points, 5 rebounds and a steal.

On Thursday, October 10th, in the first game of the evening, Port of Belize edged the Belize City Council by the score of 57-56. The top scorers for the Port of Belize were Vince Estrada with 15 points, Earl Johnson with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal, and Leroy Forbes with 10 points. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Belize City Council were Ian Ferrera with 16 points, and 4 rebounds, Densford Bevans with 15 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal, and Kenroy Usher with 10 points.

In the final game of the evening, Customs defeated Atlantic Bank by the score of 55-50. The top scorers for Customs were Winston Pratt with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal, Kevin Lorenzo with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal and Oliver Solis with 10 points, and 3 rebounds.
