Football recipientsSome three hundred footballs were handed out to students from Primary Schools in the Cayo District this past Saturday at the Victor Galvez Stadium in San Ignacio Town. The footballs were handed out by the President of the Cayo Neighborhood Watch Association (CNWA), Marcel Bedran, who took the opportunity to urge young people to take up sports.

“…It is just another effort to get our kids off the street and to continue to get them active in sports,” says Marcel Bedran.

Present for the occasion was Jason Jones, who is attached to the Community Policing Unit at the San Ignacio Police Formation. Also present to receive the football gifts were parents from children in San Ignacio, Santa Elena, Georgeville, Central Farm and other villages.

As a community member of San Ignacio Town, Marcel Bedran has been lobbying for a multi-purpose building that would serve the young people from the Cayo District for many years. The steel structure for the multi-purpose building is now only partially complete and has been so for almost five years, but efforts are now being made to secure funds for its completion.
