The Premier League of Belize Belikin Cup Opening Season continued over the weekend with 2 games. On Saturday, December 14th, at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the visiting Paradise/Freedom Fighters and the Belmopan Bandits played to a 1-1 draw. The first half of the game ended in a 0- draw, and it was not until the second half of the game that both teams were able to get onto the scoreboard.

The host team, the Belmopan Bandits, were the first to get onto the scoreboard when Elroy Kuylen scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 55th minute of play to give the Belmopan Bandits a lead. That lead however, was short lived when the visiting Paradise/Freedom Fighters penetrated the Bandits defence, which allowed Yusef Vernon to score the equalising goal in the 68th minute of play.
At the sound of the long whistle out at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium, the game had indeed ended in a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, December 15, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, FC Belize blasted the San Ignacio United squad by the score of 4-2. The visiting FC Belize was the first to get onto the scoreboard when Devaun Zuniga scored his team’s 1st goal of the game in the 37th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The lead was further increased when Jarret Davis scored the 2nd goal of the game and his first of two goals in the 42nd minute of play for a 2-0 lead. The first half of the game ended 2-0 in favour of FC Belize.

In the opening minutes of the second half of the game, the host team San Ignacio United finally got on the scoreboard when Anthony Gonzalez scored in the 47th minute of play to cut his team’s deficit to 1. However, FC Belize was on a determined march in the game and was able to tally two more goals in the game.  FC Belize’s 3rd goal was scored by Kevin Lino in the 55th minute of play for a 3-1 lead. The San Ignacio United team deficit was cut to 1 goal again when Shannon Flowers’ own goal made the game 3-2.
