richard quinn girls.jpg - 114.19 KbThe National Primary Schools Football championship for school year 2013-2014 came to an end on Friday January 17, 2014, at the MCC Grounds.

The championship saw the participation of champions in both girls and boys division from all six districts of the country with the girls’ games played at the Racoon Street Football Field and the boys competition played at the MCC Grounds with both championship games played at the MCC.

In the girls’ championship game, Richard Quinn Roman Catholic representing the Stann Creek District edged Santa Elena Roman Catholic representing the Cayo District by the score of 2-1 in penalty kicks to capture the national championship.  The goals for Richard Quinn RC were scored by Anita Augustine and Renisha Requeña, while the goal for Santa Elena RC was scored by Keilin Witt. 

In the consolation game for third place, San Pedro Roman Catholic representing the Belize District edged San Jose Roman Catholic representing the Toledo District by the score of 4-3 in penalty kicks. The goals for San Jose Roman Catholic were scored by Cinthia Cerpa, Lesbia Guity, Jemely Chinchilla and Yakzari Jamez. For San Jose Roman Catholic the goals were scored by Benita Bol, Brigida Coh and Juanita Cal.

In the semi-final round in game one, Santa Elena Primary School defeated San Jose Roman Catholic by the score of 3-1 in penalty kick to earn the first spot into the championship game. The goal scorers for Santa Elena Primary were Kelly Dawson, Tyesha Dawson and Marci Fernandez, while the goal scorer for St. Jose RC was Benita Bol.

In the second semi-final game, Richard Quinn RC edged San Pedro RC by the score of 3-2 in penalty kicks to earn the second and final spot in the championship game. The goal scorers for Richard Quinn were Anita Augustine, Shermain Diego and Marlena Pop, while the goal scorers for San Pedro RC were Kenna Cabanas, Yakzari James.

In the first game of the championship, San Pedro RC blanked Trial Farm Government School representing the Orange Walk District by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Kimberly Zuniga.

In game two, Santa Elena Primary defeated San Narciso RC representing the Corozal District by the score of 5-4 via penalty kick. The goals for Santa Elena Primary were scored by Tyesha Dawson, Marci Fernandez, Kelly Dawson, Yesica Gonzalez and Astrid Ical, while the goals for San Narciso RC were scored by Irisela Campos, Yadelie Chan, Jessica Tuz and Rennie Lizandra.

In the third game of the morning, San Pedro RC edged San Jose RC by the score of 2-1 via penalty kick. The goals for San Pedro RC were scored by Cinthia Cerpa and Lesbia Guity while the goal for San Jose RC was scored by Brigida Coh. In game four, Santa Elena Primary edged out the budding champions Richard Quinn RC by the score of 3-2 via penalty kick. The goals for Santa Elena Primary were scored by Marci Fernandez, Tyesha Dawson, and Keilin Witt. For Richard Quinn RC, the goals were scored by Anita Augustine and Renisha Requeña.

In game five, San Jose RC defeated Trial Farm Government School by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Melda Peck. And in the sixth and final game of the first round of the championship, Richard Quinn RC defeated San Narciso RC by the score of 2-0. The goals for Richard Quinn RC were scored by Renisha Requeña.

At the end of the championship, Renisha Requeña from Richard Quinn RC from the Stann Creek District was named the championship Most Valuable Player.

Meanwhile, in the boys’ championship game, Trial Farm Government representing the Orange Walk District edged out Santa Elena Primary representing the Cayo District by the score of 6-5 via penalty kicks. The goals for Trial Farm Government were scored by Johnny Cawich (2), Amir Herrera, Leo Briceño, Edward Reid, and Brian Martinez. Meanwhile, the goal scorers for Santa Elena Primary were Elston Augustine (2), Darwin Ayala, Kevin Harris and Imer Torres.

In the third place game, Copper Bank RC representing the Corozal District defeated San Pedro RC representing the Belize District by the score of 5-3 in penalty kick. The goal scorers for Copper Bank RC were Denilson Tzul (2), Russell Melendez, Zair Cobb and Imer Patt, while the goal scorers for San Pedro RC were Adrian Lopez, Ian Pou and David James.

In the first game of the semi-final round, Santa Elena Primary whitewashed San Pedro RC by the score of 2-0. The goal scorers for Santa Elena Primary were Darwin Ayala and Elston Augustine. With the win Santa Elena Primary advanced to the first spot in the championship game. In the second semi-final game, Trial Farm Government edged out Copper Bank RC by the score of 2-1 to advance to the second and final spot in the championship game.  The goals for Trial Farm Government were scored by Jorge Diaz and Miguel Uh, while the goal for Copper Bank RC was scored by Zair Cobb.  
 
In the first game of the day, Trial Farm Government blanked San Pedro RC by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Johnny Cawich. In game two, Santa Elena Primary edged out Copper Bank RC by the score of 3-2 in penalty kicks. The goal scorers for Santa Elena Primary were Elston Augustine, Kevin Harris and Shane Lopez. For Copper Bank RC the goals were scored by Emerson Tzul and Zair Cobb.

In game three, San Pedro RC blanked Golden Stream Government representing the Toledo district by the score of 1-0. The goal scorer for San Pedro RC was Adrain Lopez. In game four, Santa Elena Primary defeated Sacred Heart Primary representing the Stann Creek District by the score of 1-0.  In the fifth game of the morning in the boys’ competition, Trial Farm Government defeated Golden Stream Government by the score of 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by Johnny Cawich.

And in the final game of the first round, Copper Bank RC defeated Sacred Heart Primary by the score of1-0. The goal for Copper Bank RC was scored by Zair Cobb.

At the end of the boys’ championship, Johnny Cawich from Trial Farm Government was named the Most Valuable Player.
