Wesley College girls lead in High School Football Competition Print E-mail

The Central Region Secondary Schools Football Competition continued at the MCC Grounds with a number of games played over the weekend.

On Saturday, January 18th, in the first of two female games played, Gwen Lizarraga High School defeated Belize High School by the score of 2-0. The goals for Gwen Lizarraga High was scored by Kishay Bevans and Tyra Moreira.

In game two, Wesley College continued on its winning path when it clipped St. Catherine Academy by the score of 3-1.  The goals for Wesley College were scored by Elisha Bernardez (2) and Shanice Neal. Meanwhile, the goal for St. Catherine Academy was scored by Jodi Pott.

In the first male game of the day, Anglican Cathedral College defeated Excelsior High School by the score of 2-1.  Jose Machuka and Sergio Luna both scored goals for Anglican Cathedral College, while Jamal Ford scored for Excelsior High School.

In the second game, St. John’s College upended Wesley College by the score of 5-1. The goals for St. John’s College were scored by Dmitri Fabro (2), Sydney Bradley (2), and Luis Acosta. For Wesley College the only goal of the day was scored by Keeron Young.

The competition continued on Thursday January 16 with only one game on the schedule in the male competition. In the game played, Gwen Lizarraga High defeated Belize High School by the score of 6-0. The goals for Gwen Lizarraga were scored by July Barrientos (2),  Leeford Meighan, Albert Davis, Jovian Usher and Zion Brandon.

The competition then continued on Tuesday January 14 with one game in the male competition between St. John’s College and Gwen Lizarraga High School. In the game played, St. John’s College nipped Gwen Lizarraga High by the score of 2-1. The goals for St. John’s College were scored by Sydney Bradley and Dmitri Fabro, while the goal for Gwen Lizarraga High was scored by July Barrientos.
