Belize’s third Spanish Lookout Expo was held on Friday and Saturday of last week at the 100- acre Country Side Park in Spanish Lookout. Thousands of Belizeans from around the country came to learn about what businesses from Spanish Lookout have to offer to the rest of the Country.

“It really is just to get a lot of businesses to have a venue to showcase their products and services and also for the Belizean people to come and visit Spanish Lookout to see what the business community has to offer,” says Norman Dueck, the Director of the Business Chamber in Spanish Lookout and who was responsible for organizing the two day event.

Many Belizeans choose to spend the early morning hours watching the canoe races in the large lake within the park or spend time meeting with business leaders from well-know institutions such as Atlantic Bank, Scotia Bank and the Development Finance Corporation. But especially appealing were the great deals that were being offered during the two-day event, with Spanish Lookout businesses like Universal Hardware and Farmers Trading Center offering 15% and 10% discounts respectively. A large variety of household items were being offered by these two large stores with the showing of their freely distributed cards.

At one of the booths, the Belize Natural Energy (BNE), which has current operations in Spanish Lookout, featured information on its cheap deals with propane and butane products made from Belize’s light crude. Being produced since 2009, both butane and propane fuels are now being sold at CDS Gas in Burrel Boom, Commodities Store in Belmopan,  Sirrom Gas in San Ignacio and at the Benque Gas Depot in Benque Viejo. Daniel Guitterez, Marketing/Sales Manager at BNE told us that the cheap butane and propane now being offered by BNE is not going to be sold indefinitely but it is expected to be depleted over time “…like anything that comes from mother nature.”

However, an indefinite source of energy comes from the sun and two companies Solar Energy Solutions Limited and Solar Solutions Limited were well represented at the Spanish Lookout Expo this past weekend. Representatives from both companies are looking forward to striking deals with the Belize Electricity Company to allow for their customers to sell excess electricity to the grid. Dimas Durte from Solar Solutions, who can be reached at 667-1140, told us that being able to sell electricity to BEL will be something existing for his many customers.

With over one hundred companies showing up for last weekend’s Expo, the Spanish Lookout community has once again laid a welcoming mat for visitors to have an exciting time with Belize’s most productive sectors.
