Ladyville Technical High School upsets Nazarene High School Print E-mail

The Central Region Secondary Schools Softball Competition is fast winding down at Rogers Stadium with the commencement of the playoffs.

On Tuesday, March 4, in the second game of the female playoffs, Gwen Lizarraga High School defeated Wesley College by the score of 15-4. The winning pitcher was Ashley Lucas and the losing pitcher was Breanna Meighan.

In the second game of the male playoffs, Wesley College defeated Gwen Lizarraga High School by the score of 16-15. The winning pitcher was Devon Tillett and the losing pitcher was Devontae Middleton.

On Monday, March 3, in playoffs game one in the female competition, Ladyville Technical High School edged Nazarene High School by the score of 6-5 to advance to the first final spot in the championship game. The winning pitcher was Amber Wade and the losing pitcher was Elma Wade.

In the male playoffs game one, Nazarene High School blanked St. John’s College by the score of 3-0. The winning pitcher was Jerome Carr and the losing pitcher was Dylon Snaggs.

The playoffs will continue on Thursday, March 6, in the female competition when Nazarene High School will go up against Wesley College in a must -win situation and in the male competition, it will be St. John’s College against Gwen Lizarraga High School also in a must win situation for both schools.

The championship games are scheduled for Friday, March 7, at Rogers Stadium. In the female game, Ladyville Technical will see action against the winner from Thursday’s game, and in the male championship game, Nazarene High School will square off against the winner from Thursday’s game.

The winners will represent the Central Region at the National Secondary Schools Softball Competition scheduled for March 14 and 15 at King’s College on the Old Northern Highway.
