San Pedro Tigersharks maintain lead in Elite Basketball League Print E-mail

The National Elite Basketball League Competition continued over the last week with a number of games across the country.

On Thursday March 28, at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Complex in Orange Walk Town, the Belize City based Smart “No Limit” edged the Orange Walk Running Rebels by the score of 76-75.

The top scorers for the Belize City Smart “No Limit” were Akeem Trapp with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, Gregory Rudon with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Andrew Ortiz and Brandon Rogers with 8 points each.

For the Orange Walk Running Rebels the top scorers were Randy Usher with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists, Omar Tesecum also with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, along with Ian Carcamo who contributed 15 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals, and Shemar white who also contributed 10 points, and 1 rebound.

The competition then continued on Friday March 29 with two more games. At the Andres Campus Civic Centre in Corozal Town, the league’s leading San Pedro Tigersharks continued on its winning path when it defeated the Corozal Heats by the score of 86-68.

The top scorers for the San Pedro Tigersharks were Ashton Edwards with 26 points, and 1 assist, Winston Pratt with 15 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Tyrone Edwards with 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Corozal Heats were Marcel Richards with 19 points, 2 assists and a steal, Alton Herrera with 15 points, 1 rebound, and 2 assists and Jason Grant with 12 points, and 7 rebounds.

At the Ecumenical High School Auditorium in Dangriga Town, the Cayo Western Ballaz defeated the Dangriga Warriors by the score of 61-48. The top scorers for the Cayo Western Ballaz were Richard Troyer with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 1, assist and 2 steals; Kurt Burgess with 11 points, 14 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal and Ivan Flowers with 7 points.

For the Dangriga Warriors, the top scorers were Trevaughn Usher with 20 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals, and Gary Francisco with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals.

The competition will continue this coming weekend.
