San Pedro Tigersharks continue to lead Elite Basketball League Print E-mail

The National Elite Basketball League competition continued over the last week with four games across the country.

On Thursday April 3, 2014, at the University of Belize Gymnasium, the home team the Belmopan Point Bandits defeated the Dangriga Warriors by the score of 66-54. The top scorers for the Belmopan Point Bandits were Stephen Williams with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals, Erwin Robinson with 13 points, 3 rebounds and a steal and Dorian Jones with 9 points, and 10 rebounds. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Dangriga Warriors were Jamir Flores with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal, Gary Francisco with 11 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, and Macario Augustine with 8 points, 11 rebounds and a steal.

The competition continued on April 4, 2014, with two more games. At the Bird’s Isle in Belize City, the Belize City based Smart “No Limit” Team won handily over the Corozal Heats by the score of 71-62. The top scorers for the Smart “No Limit” team were Gregory Rudon with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, Erwin Orosco with 12 points, 1 assist and a steal and Elsworth Itza and Kevin Domingo with 10 points each.

For the Corozal Heats team, the top scorers were Jason Grant with 22 points, and 8 rebounds, Marcel Richards with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal and Sheldon Williams with 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Out at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, Western Ballaz doubled up on the Orange Walk Running Rebels by the score of 100-50. The top scorers for the Western Ballaz were Farron Louriano with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals, Richard Troyer with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist and Travis Lennan with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 assist.

For the Orange Walk Running Rebels, the top scorers were Randy Usher with 18 points, 4 rebounds,and 2 steals, and Omar Tesecum and Ian Carcamo with 6 points each.

And then on Saturday April 5 at the Roman Catholic School in San Pedro Town, the league’s leading San Pedro Tigersharks by the score of 86-52. The top scorers for the San Pedro Tigersharks were Darwin Leslie with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal, Winston Pratt with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, and Michael Adams with 11 points, and 8 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Toledo Diplomats were Daniel Valerio with 13 points, and 5 rebounds, Anthony Johnson with 10 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists and Jovannie White also with 10 points, 4 assists and a steal.

The competition will continue this coming Friday April 11, at the Orange Walk Multi-Purpose Building in Orange Walk Town between the Belmopan Point Bandits and the Orange Walk Running Rebels.

On Saturday April 12, there are three games on the schedule. Out at the PG Sports complex it will be Dangriga Warriors against the Toledo Diplomats. At San Pedro Town, it will be the Belize City “No Limits” against the San Pedro Tigersharks and at Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio it will be Corozal Heats against the Cayo Western Ballaz.
