Four men busted with Firearm Print E-mail

Police report that at around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday April 22, police intercepted 4 men inside a 4-Runner SUV on Prince Street in Belize City. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle where they found 21-year-old Kashief Gallego, 20-year-old Akeem Garcia, and 22-year-old Paris Williams, all of the Maxboro Area. Also in the vehicle was George Street associate, 19-year-old Ijaman Young, of Belize City. At the time of the search Parris Williams was the driver.

While nothing incriminating was found on the men, a further search was conducted inside the vehicle where police found a 9 mm pistol and 14 live rounds.

 The group of 4 appeared in the court room of the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith where they were arraigned on charges of keeping a firearm without a gun license and keeping ammunition without a license. They were additionally charged with one count each of handling stolen goods for allegedly having in their possession, a 9 mm pistol Glock 17 in brand which belongs to Herman Pastor Jr., and which was stolen from him.

  Due to the nature of the offenses, the men were all denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until June 25, 2014.
