San Pedro Tigersharks and Cayo Ballaz maintain lead in Elite Basketball League competition Print E-mail

The Elite Basketball League competition continued over the last week with four games on the schedule.

On Friday April 11, at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Orange Walk Town, the visiting Belmopan Point Bandits defeated the Orange Walk Running Rebels by the score of 95-77.  The top scorers for the Belmopan Point Bandits were Adam Carswell with 20 points, and 10 rebounds, Dorian Jones with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, and Christian Rodriguez with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. Meanwhile, the top scorers for the Orange Walk Running Rebels were Ian Carcamo with 21 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 steals, and Randy Usher with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

The competition then continued on Saturday April 12 with three more games on the schedule. At the Punta Gorda Sports Complex, the Dangriga Warriors defeated the Toledo Diplomats by the score of 81-53.

The top scorers for the Dangriga Warriors were Trevaughn Usher with 23 points, 1 rebound and 3 steals and Jamir Flores with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. For the Toledo Diplomats, the top scorers were Daniel Valerio with 15 points, and 8 rebounds, and Elvert Arnold also with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal.

Out at the Roman Catholic School in San Pedro, the San Pedro Tigersharks defeated the Belize City No Limit by the score of 84-81. The top scorers for the San Pedro Tigersharks were Darwin Leslie with 27 points,10 rebounds, and 2 assists, Winston Pratt with 20 points, 11 rebounds,  4 assists and a steal and Ashton Edwards with 19 points. For the Belize City No Limit Team, the top scorers were Gregory Rudon with 34 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal and Brandon Rogers with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal.

Meanwhile, at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, the Cayo Ballaz defeated the Corozal Heats by the score of 80-65. The top scorers for the Cayo Ballaz were Richard Troyer with 23 points, and 7 rebounds, Kurt Burgess with 15 points, 22 rebounds, and 2 steals, and Travis Lennan with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

For the Corozal Heats, the top scorers were Marcel Richards and Alton Herrera with 15 points each.

The competition will continue on Thursday April 24, at 9:00 pm when the Corozal Heats will go up against the Belmopan Point Bandits at UB Gymnasium in Belmopan. On Friday night at 9:00 pm out in Dangriga, it will be the Orange Walk Running Rebels against the Dangriga Warriors and then on Saturday April 26, at 8:00 pm it will be the Toledo Diplomats against Belize City No Limit at Bird’s Isle and then at 9:00 pm out at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio Town, it will be the San Pedro Tigersharks against the Cayo Western Ballaz.
