On Friday, May 2, 64-year-old Marjorie Pitts appeared before Magistrate Dale Cayetano and pleaded guilty to a charge of being in possession of metal pipes used to smoke drugs.

Police officers were conducting foot patrol on Cemetery Road at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, when upon reaching Taylors Alley they saw a female in the area acting suspiciously. The officers approached and conducted a search on her which resulted in the discovery of two metal pipes. She was arrested and escorted to the police station where she was charged.

In Court Pitts chose not to waste the court’s time and plead edguilty to the charge. Magistrate Cayetano imposed a non-custodial sentence in which he fined her $100 plus $5 cost of court fee. She was ordered to pay by August 31, 2014 or serve six months imprisonment. This was not Pitts’ first time before the court. She was recently discharged from prison after serving time for a similar offense.
