San Pedro Tigersharks maintain lead in National Elite Basketball League competition Print E-mail

On Thursday May 1, at the Stann Creek Ecumenical College Auditorium in Dangriga Town, the home team the Dangriga Warriors edged out the visiting Toledo Diplomats by the score of 48-44. The top scorers for the Dangriga Warriors were Jamir Flores with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals, Brandon Flowers with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals, Gary Francisco with 7 points, 3 rebounds, and a steal, and Trevaughn Usher with 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

For the Toledo Diplomats, their top scorers were Jovannie White with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals, Elbert Arida with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and a steal and Frank Lopez also with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

The competition then continued on Friday May 2, at the Bird’s Isle here in Belize City where the visiting Cayo Western Ballaz won handily over the Belize City based Smart No Limit squad by the score of 77-63. The top scorers for the Cayo Western Ballaz were Kurt Burgess with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals, Travis Lennan with 18 points, and 5 rebounds, and Farron Louriano with 14 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals.

Meanwhile, the scorers for the Belize City Smart No Limit team were Andrew Ortiz with 21 points, 6 rebounds,1 assist and 2 steals, Greg Rudon with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, and Ervin Orosco with 11 points, and 2 steals.

On Saturday May 3, at the UB Gymnasium in Belmopan, the league’s leading San Pedro Tigersharks won over the Belmopan Point Bandits by the score of 84-70. The top scorers for the San Pedro Tigersharks were Michael Adams with 18 points, and 6 rebounds, Jamal Kelly also with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, and Winston Pratt with 13 points,  8 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal. While, the top scorers for the Belmopan Point Bandits were Christian Rodriguez with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals, Dorian Jones with 11 points,6 rebounds, and 2 steals and Jamal Harris with 10 points.

Meanwhile, in the game played out at the PG Sports Complex in Punta Gorda Town, the visiting Orange Walk Running Rebels defeated the Toledo Diplomats by the score of 78-74. The top scorers for the Orange Walk Running Rebels were Randy Usher with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal, Shemar White with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and an assist, and Leith Paulino with 14 points, 4 rebounds, and an assist.

The top scorers for the host team Toledo Diplomats were Elbert Arida with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal, Ray Arzu with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals, and Frank Lopez with 10points, 3 steals, 2 assists and a steal.
