There are more changes taking place within the Princess Hotel group in Belize; fortunately, these changes are positive for the industry and the company’s employees. The Princess Hotel in Belize City will now be operating under the internationally acclaimed Ramada brand as the Ramada Belize City Princess.

Erol Olcan, Princess Hotel General Manager, stresses the fact that there is no change in ownership of the hotel. He says the company still belongs to Turkish owned Princess International Limited but it is a new chapter in the company’s affairs and a partnership agreement has been signed with Ramada. The main purpose of the partnership is for Princess to benefit from the global marketing of the Ramada brand. The Belize City Princess will now be featured on Ramada’s global reservation system which should attract more customers to the hotel (and tourists to Belize).

This is a significant financial investment for Princess. In addition to paying a huge affiliation fee, the hotel must invest to develop its standards. The structure and rooms must be upgraded to satisfy Ramada. The 160 plus rooms will be redecorated to reach international standards. Olcan says phase 1 of the upgrade includes the insertion of better quality tables, towels, linens and bathroom materials including soaps, shampoo and other sanitary products. Television sets will be replaced in each room by new models of high definition LED systems. The hotel staff will be trained continuously to keep up with international standards which would make them qualified to work anywhere in the world.  Olcan stresses that no employee will lose their job during the transition. He says, “Their jobs are as safe as mine.” There will be no increase in room rates in the near future as a result of the upgrade.

Ramada operates more than 1000 hotels in 53 countries worldwide under the Wyndham Group.
