Belize Establishes Diplomatic Relations with Indonesia and Palestine Print E-mail

Belize officially established diplomatic relations with Palestine and Indonesia in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations during a ceremony in Mexico City on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. 

On behalf of the Government of Belize, H.E. Oliver del Cid, Ambassador of Belize to Mexico, signed Joint Communiqués with the Ambassador of Palestine in Mexico, H.E. Munjed Saleh, and the Ambassador of Indonesia in Mexico, H.E. Hamdani Djafar.

 In his remarks, Ambassador del Cid made note of the cultural links between Belize and Palestine and that the establishment of diplomatic relations is a step forward for the international political system. Ambassador del Cid also noted that the establishment of diplomatic relations with Indonesia demonstrated both countries’ interest in expanding and deepening their ties with friendly states, no matter the distance.
