The Ashcroft Alliance and Fortis Energy Belize Limited refuse to accept their loss in the Court of Appeal. In May of this year, the Appeal Court ruled that the Government’s Acquisition of your electricity company, and the re-acquisition of your telecommunications company was done lawfully.

The Ashcroft Attorneys promised that there would be a very vigorous appeal of that decision, and it began on Wednesday, July 23, before the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Though it was mostly case management, the Guardian has learnt that attorneys Eamon Courtenay, representing the British Caribbean Bank and Fortis Energy Belize Limited, and Godfrey Smith, representing Dean Boyce and the Trustees of the Employees Trust, have all filed an appeal against the Government of Belize.

The earliest that the CCJ will be able to accommodate a full hearing of this appeal is sometime in November or the beginning of December.
