The Belize Rural Central constituency has two new representatives as a result of bi-elections which were held in Lord’s Bank and Western Paradise Village.

The elections became necessary after the chairman of Lord’s bank resigned as well as a councilor from Western Paradise did the same. While there were actual elections in Lord’s Bank, there was an endorsement in Western Paradise.

The new Chairman of Lord’s bank is Shirlett Martinez who was soundly elected to the position receiving 145 votes. There were a total of 232 ballots cast with her opponent. William Smith, receiving 75 votes and 12 being spoilt. In Western Paradise, Paulette Gentle was endorsed as a new councilor.

Both these ladies form part of the only working team in Belize Rural Central headed by Beverly Castillo, the UDP standard Bearer for that constituency.
