Victor Vargas, a 38 year-old father of 7 who was living in Unitedville, Cayo, was stabbed to death early on Saturday, August 16. It is believed at this time that he may have been in an altercation a few hours before his death.

Police arrived in Unitedville at around 3 a.m., where they found Vargas’ body on the verandah of one of his neighbour’s house. What they’ve been able to find out so far is that he was socializing with a 19 year-old man, and during the course of Friday night, August 15, they got into an altercation. The family’s information is that Vargas saw the teenager he was socializing with in another fight, and he tried to part it. That’s when he was fatally stabbed twice to the neck. Police believe otherwise and say that the young man may have gotten into a fight with Vargas, and that’s when the stabbing happened. Vargas managed to run some 200 to 300 yards away from where he was initially attacked, and tried to seek help from his neighbours to get to a hospital. He then collapsed on the verandah, and died where he lay.

His family is angry at his sudden demise, and they are hoping that police can catch the young man accused of this crime.
Vargas was accused of a grisly double murder in Buena Vista in 2011, but due to the advice of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the murder charges were withdrawn.
