Edward “Ned” Pitts honoured with Commonwealth Games Federation Order of Merit Print E-mail

ned pitts.jpg - 78.36 KbEdward “Ned” Pitts, President Emeritus of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association was awarded on July 22, 2014, at the General Assembly of the Commonwealth Games Federation in Glasgow, Scotland, with the Federation Order of Merit.

Pitts, has been awarded this honour in recognition of over 60 years’ service to sport in Belize and the wider Commonwealth.

The prestigious Commonwealth Games Federation Gold Pin and Scroll was received on Mr. Pitts’ behalf by Mr. Hilly Martinez, the President of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association.

Pitts, along with former Bahamian Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association President Sir Arlington Butler were the only two from the English speaking Americas and the Caribbean to receive the award.

Sir Arlington Butler, a friend of Belize served as former Ambassador to the Organisation of American States from the CARICOM Region. He was also friendly towards the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association.
