The UDP convention season kicked off with two of the more hotly contested conventions on the roster. These were the Cayo North East and the Port Loyola divisions. At the end of the Port convention, it was Philip Willoughby who emerged victorious.

Polling started promptly at 9 at St. John’s Vianney Primary School and it went briskly up until 5p.m. Over 50 percent of the registered voters in the division turned out to vote and when the ballots were all counted it was Willoughby who had secured the victory with 1,083 votes. Michael Peyrefitte secured 847 votes while Dean Samuels got 144 and the fourth contestant Shane AC Castillo got 33 votes. There were 35 rejected ballots.

At the end of the convention, Willoughby was sworn in and he pledged to get into the division to mend fences and more importantly to work with the young people in the division to try to stem the killing that is plaguing the division.
