Saint Ignatius Team now in Panama Print E-mail

The Saint Ignatius High School Female Football Team is currently representing Belize in Panama. We wish them all the best as they participate in the CODICADER (Consejo del Istmo Centroamericano De Deporte y Recreacion) Games. The team departed Belize on Thursday.

So far Belize has received two bronze medals in Track and Field. Vanessa Neal, head of the Saint Ignatius Team informed us late today that they were now playing.

Verdes FC new leaders in Premier League Opening Season competition Print E-mail

The Premier League of Belize Opening Season competition continued over the weekend with four games on the schedule.

On Sunday 16th September, at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio Town, the host team Verdes FC blanked the winless Freedom Fighters by the score of 5-0.

The 1st goal of the game was scored by Darwin Bermudez in the 30th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead. The first half of the game ended in favour of the host team Verdes FC.

In the second half of the game, the Verdes FC offence picked up when it tallied four more goals for the lopsided victory.

Verdes’ 1-0 lead was extended when Roberto De Silva scored the 2nd goal of the game in the 60th minute of play to give his team a 2-0 lead. Elroy Kuylen then made it a 3-0 game when he scored in the 70th minute of play, and this was followed by Nahjib Guerra’s goal in the 74th minute of play for a 4-0 lead while the 5th and final goal of the game was scored by Elroy Smith in the 77th minute of play.

At the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan, the visiting BDF FC edged out the Police United Team by the score of 3-1.

The host team Police United FC was the first onto the scoreboard when Andres Makin scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 47th minute of play to give it a temporary 1-0 lead.

The host team Police United FC took the 1-0 lead into the second half of the game before the visiting BDF FC was able to make it onto the scoreboard.

The BDF FC tied the score at 1-1 in the 58th minute of play when Osman Duran scored the equalising goal for is team. Not satisified with the score at 1-1, the BDF FC offence made it a 2-1 game when Justin Trapp scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute of play with Darren Lambey scoring the final goal of the game in the 92nd minute of play to give his team the 3-1 victory.

On Saturday 15th September, at the Michael Aschroft Stadium in Independence Village, the host team Altitude Assassins FC edged out the visiting Wagiya FC by the score of 2-1.

The visiting Wagiya FC made it onto the scoreboard first when Highking Roberts scored his team’s only goal of the game in the 6th minute of play to give his team a 1-0 lead.

It was not until the second half of the game that the Altitude Assassins FC made it onto the scoreboard when it scored twice. Richard Arnold scored the equalising goal for his team in the 50th minute of play to tie the score at 1-1. Ronaldo Vergara then made it a 2-1 game when he scored his team’s winning goal in the 69th minute of play.

Meanwhile, at the Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro Town, the defending champions the Belmopan Bandits and the San Pedro Pirates played to a 0-0 draw.

The competition will continue this coming weekend with four more games on the schedule.
