In his continued effort of improving citizen security, the Director of Eastern Division Region One, Sr. Spt. Howell Gillett has gone on the task of clearing lots. A total of three lots between Logwood, Moya, and Mayflower streets were cleared with the help of inmates from the Belize Central Prison. These cleared lots will be used by the different communities. One use will be the playing of football and as a result, footballs and football equipment were donated to the areas.

The residents of the Mayflower Street area took it upon themselves to cook for the inmates and the police officers that were engaged in the cleanup. According to Sr. Spt. Gillett, this is evidence of the improved relationship between the police and residents of that community. Representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank were also present for the neighborhood visits.
