A Toyota Hilux was allegedly stolen last Friday morning in the Cayo District. Isias Banner, an employee of Key Works reported to police that last month a mechanic had come to pick up his Hilux for repair. This Hilux had on a license plate SI C-04065 and was worth ,000.00

The mechanic communicated to Banner on Friday that his Hilux had been driven away from  Joseph Andrews Drive, San Ignacio Town.

Superintendent Richard Rosado tells that Guardian that he believes that there is a criminal ring that operates from within the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena geared towards stealing vehicles and that there is a “connection” between Melchor and Belize.

In the past high end vehicles have been stolen from within the Twin Towns, only to be taken across unchecked border points on the Belize Guatemala border.
