On Monday, December 4, 2017, two teenagers ages 17 and 18 were before the court to answer to two criminal charges of robbery and wounding upon a man. The 18-year-old has been identified as Dwayne Williams.

The duo was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford where they were read a charge of robbery upon Alfredo Ical and one count of wounding upon Ical. Both Williams and the minor pleaded not guilty to robbing Ical. Williams did plead guilty to wounding Ical but his sentencing for the guilty plea was deferred until a later date.

There was no objection to bail for the duo but Prosecutor Inspector Hector Rodriguez asked the magistrate to set conditions to their bail. With that, Senior Magistrate Ford ordered that a Social Inquiry Report be done on the minor. She also ordered that both accused report to the Mahogany police station once a week and that while on bail they are not to be arrested or charged with any other offenses. They were also instructed not to interfere with any of the prosecution witness.

Both were granted bail in the sum of $4,000 each plus one surety of the same or two sureties of $2,000 each. They are due back in court on February 9, 2018.
