Today marks the last day in office for His Worship the Mayor Darrel Bradley and his Councilors. As is the law Bradley and his Councilors demitted office on Wednesday February 28. According to the law the last day of February on the third anniversary of being elected is the final day of the serving council’s term of office. Darrel Bradley, an Attorney by profession is an alumnus of Saint Louis University and the University of the West Indies. Prior to his mayoral run he served as youth director for the United Democratic Party. Bradley was elected Belize City mayor in 2012 and re-elected in 2015.

Bradley was the UDP nominee for the House or Representatives  in the Caribbean Shores Constituency  in the 2015 General Election, however, he lost by a mere 56 votes to the PUP candidate Kareem Musa. In August 2017 Bradley announced that he would not run for re-election as Belize City mayor in 2018, but he plans to remain active in politics. Darrel is married to Julie Ann Ellis-Bradley, who is also an Attorney at law. They are the proud parents of 2 children.

Bradley is still a very young man, having been born in 1979 and like it or not he is perhaps the best Mayor Belize City has ever seen. He has laid the ground work for a brilliant POLITICAL CAREER, should he ever wish to return to politics. The type of innovation he took to the OFFICE OF MAYOR has set the standards by which all future MAYORS AND COUNCILS will be measured. We at this newspaper would like to express our sincere gratitude to him and his council. We wish him well in whatever his future endeavors may be. Again we say thank you, thank you! Mayor Bradley
